We write about watches the way serious people write about design, architecture, or film. Which is to say, we write about them like they matter, without assuming the reader needs to be sold on the idea that they do.
We are small on purpose. One editor, one host, and a handful of contributors who have been at this long enough to know what a good watch looks like and what a bad review looks like when it's been bought. We publish in quarterly issues (coming soon) because that's the pace at which thinking actually happens. We send a newsletter every two weeks because that's the pace at which reading actually happens.
We are not a trade publication, and we are not a gossip column. We are trying to do something deliberate, and we are trying to do it slowly. If that sounds like the sort of thing you'd read, we hope you will.
Mitch is the founder and editor of SmallSeconds (formerly The Subdial) a watch fan and a family man. He is passionate about inclusion in the watch industry promises to always have is feet firmly planted on the ground.
We are not an un-biased publication. Every piece we write or video we create comes from the mind of a human being with opinions, thoughts, desires and taste. Watches are subjective, and so is our content.
We do not run affiliate links or PPC (pay per click) advertising. Nothing on this site is a referral, and no link we include has been paid for.
We write about watches when they inspire us, not when they are released. We will very rarely be the first to publish, we choose instead to take our time.
No stories printed in our broadsheet will ever be publised online. Special things are better left on ink and paper.
We are an inclusive publication. No matter your bank balance, your social standing or your hair style, you are welcome here.
At SmallSeconds, ego is left at the door, dickheads arent welcome and we will always, always do our best.
