Breva Genève blends Swiss watchmaking with environmental sensors, creating luxury timepieces that display weather, altitude, and air pressure data.
Breva Genève is an independent Swiss watch brand founded in 2012, celebrated for their extraordinary weather-forecasting watches — mechanical timepieces that measure barometric pressure and display weather predictions through a mechanical aneroid capsule integrated into the movement. The Breva Génie 01 was the world's first mechanical wristwatch with an integrated barometric pressure gauge capable of predicting weather changes.
Breva's weather complication uses an aneroid capsule — the same technology used in traditional barometers — integrated into the watch movement. As atmospheric pressure changes, the capsule expands or contracts, and this mechanical movement is transmitted through a gear train to move an indicator showing rising, falling, or stable pressure (which corresponds to improving, worsening, or stable weather). The mechanism operates entirely mechanically without any electronics.
Beyond the weather complication, Breva has developed the Breva Génie 02 Terra — a watch combining altitude measurement with weather forecasting, using both an aneroid capsule for pressure and a display for altitude above sea level. Their timepieces combine these unique complications with traditional Swiss finishing and manufacture movements from established suppliers. The brand targets adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts who want genuinely functional complications rather than purely decorative ones.
