Piaget is a prestigious Swiss maison renowned for its expertise in ultra-thin watchmaking, high jewelry, and the seamless integration of horology and decorative arts. Founded in 1874 by Georges-Édouard Piaget in the village of La Côte-aux-Fées, the brand began as a specialist in high-precision movements. By the mid-20th century, Piaget had transitioned into a fully-fledged watchmaker and jeweler, establishing itself as a symbol of elegance and innovation.
In 1957, Piaget introduced the Calibre 9P, a hand-wound movement just 2mm thick, followed by the 12P automatic movement in 1960 — then the thinnest in the world. These technical achievements laid the foundation for Piaget’s signature ultra-thin watches, which continue to define the brand. The Altiplano collection exemplifies this legacy with refined, minimalist designs and record-breaking calibres like the Altiplano Ultimate Concept, which held the title of the world’s thinnest mechanical watch at 2mm thick.
Piaget is also a master of métiers d’art — from guilloché engraving and enameling to gem-setting — making it one of the few houses equally respected in both watchmaking and jewelry. Its Possession, Limelight Gala, and Piaget Polo lines blend horological savoir-faire with jewelry craftsmanship, offering expressive, glamorous timepieces for both men and women.
As part of the Richemont Group, Piaget continues to push creative and technical boundaries, with a distinct aesthetic defined by elegance, luxury, and daring creativity. Whether crafting a skeletonized tourbillon or a diamond-studded cuff watch, Piaget’s work is always a celebration of form and finesse.
With its roots in precision and its heart in artistry, Piaget stands as a unique voice in Swiss watchmaking — where bold design meets mechanical mastery.

Questions answered.

What is Piaget and what is the brand known for?

Piaget is a Swiss luxury watch and jewellery brand founded in 1874 in La Côte-aux-Fées, part of the Richemont Group. The brand is celebrated above all for its ultra-thin watch movements — Piaget has held numerous records for the world's thinnest automatic, manual-wind, and tourbillon calibres. Piaget also produces elaborate high jewellery watches that combine horological expertise with gem-setting of the highest order.

What are Piaget's most iconic watch collections?

The Altiplano is Piaget's flagship ultra-thin collection — an exercise in restraint and mechanical miniaturisation that has produced record-breaking calibres including the 900P, the world's thinnest mechanical watch at 3.65mm total height. The Polo is their sports watch, a cushion-case integrated bracelet design first introduced in 1979. The Limelight Gala and Possession collections represent the jewellery-watch side of the brand, featuring diamond and gemstone-set dials and bezels.

How does Piaget approach ultra-thin watchmaking?

Ultra-thin watchmaking is technically demanding because reducing movement height requires redesigning every component — mainspring barrels, gear trains, escapements — to function with smaller tolerances and less material. Piaget achieves extreme thinness partly through integrating the movement base plate into the caseback itself, eliminating a structural layer. Their Calibre 900P at 2mm thick is a remarkable engineering achievement. The brand has produced ultra-thin records across manual, automatic, tourbillon, and repeater complications.
